Destin Black, MD, graduated from LSU Health Sciences Center–Shreveport School of Medicine where she also completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology. Following residency, she was accepted for a four-year surgical fellowship at the prestigious Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City where she was named the top surgical fellow at graduation.

A cum laude scholar, Dr. Black received the Michael E. Burt Memorial Award for Clinical Excellence in Surgery from Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology Merit Award. She also received an American Cancer Society Summer Research Fellowship grant and a research grant from the Society of Surgical Oncology. She received the Lucy Wortham James Research Award during her medical school training.

Dr. Black has to her credit numerous publications and presentations.

Professional memberships include the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, Gynecologic Oncology Group Investigator Council and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and gynecologic oncology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Black is part of the Willis Knighton Cancer Center team. She specializes in robotic surgery and clinical research trials. She is director of gynecologic oncology at LSU Health Sciences Center-Shreveport, where she teaches students and residents.
